Mexico Vivienda para el Bienestar housing program

Overview

The ‘Vivienda para el Bienestar’ program is expanding its social housing footprint across Mexico through various stages of delivery and planning.

In Colima and Guanajuato, the program has moved into the delivery and formalization phase. In Villa de Álvarez, Colima, 52 homes were delivered at the Infonavit La Fortuna development as part of a state-wide plan to construct 20,700 homes. Meanwhile, in Celaya, Guanajuato, more than 270 families are set to receive housing through formal subsidy agreements with the National Housing Commission (CONAVI) for the Las Huertas development.

In Quintana Roo, the program is entering the planning and environmental assessment stage. CONAVI has submitted environmental documentation to the state Secretariat of Ecology and the Environment (SEMA) to evaluate the viability of a new social housing development in the southwestern zone of Chetumal. If the environmental impact statement is approved, the project will proceed to the installation of essential urban infrastructure.
