CONCANACO SERVYTUR launches youth entrepreneurship agenda in Mexico

CONCANACO SERVYTUR México and federal deputy Gabriela Jiménez Godoy have launched the “Youth Entrepreneurship: engine of the next generation of employment” agenda. The initiative aims to create better conditions for young people to innovate, join family businesses, and enter the workforce.

During the “Voices of the Future” forum, which gathered 567 young people from across Mexico, discussions focused heavily on artificial intelligence, innovation, and civic participation. Participants highlighted the need to use technology to reduce inequalities rather than deepen them.

Data presented at the event underscores significant economic challenges for Mexico's youth. Of the 30.4 million citizens aged 15 to 29, approximately 15.9 million are economically active. However, youth labor informality stands at 58.8%, significantly higher than the national average, while youth unemployment is at 4.8%.

Octavio de la Torre de Stéffano, president of CONCANACO SERVYTUR, emphasized that instead of merely promising a future, the focus should be on removing obstacles such as complex bureaucracy, lack of training, and limited access to credit. The proposed roadmap includes seven stages to foster prosperity and emphasizes professionalizing family businesses through e-commerce and AI.
