CONCOR launches new Bengaluru-Delhi container rail service

The Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) and Indian Railways have launched a new ‘Assured Transit Time’ container train service connecting ICD-Whitefield in Bengaluru to ICD-Tughlakabad in Delhi. The service, which was flagged off by Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna, aims to strengthen logistics connectivity between southern industrial hubs and the National Capital Region.

The new service guarantees a transit time of 166 hours for the approximately 2,500-km journey, representing a roughly 30% reduction compared to current transit times. Under the new schedule, domestic container rakes will be dispatched from Whitefield every Saturday to ICD-Tondiarpet in Chennai, which serves as an aggregation hub before connecting to onward services to Delhi.

This initiative is expected to benefit various industrial corridors in Karnataka, including Electronics City, Bidadi, and Bommasandra, by providing a more predictable and cost-effective rail alternative to road transport for time-sensitive cargo.
