Conerobus adopts new governance to revitalize Ancona public transport
The shareholders' assembly of Conerobus approved statutory amendments that transform the company from a fully public‑owned operator into a mixed‑ownership entity. Under the new structure, private investors will hold three seats on the board while public owners – the Municipality of Ancona (majority shareholder), the Province of Ancona and other municipalities – retain a 51% stake and two board seats.
Vice‑mayor and Mobility Assessor Giovanni Zinni said the reforms are a "turning point" for the company, aiming to restore financial balance and prepare Conerobus for the upcoming European public‑transport tender. Province President Daniele Carnevali called the changes "strategic" and emphasized the need for a unified direction. Conerobus President Italo D’Angelo described the reform as an "epochal" step that will give the firm greater managerial autonomy, flexibility, efficiency and competitiveness.
The measures follow years of financial strain, service interruptions and contractual imbalances. Officials expect the reforms to stabilize the balance sheet, maintain the current workforce, and deliver visible service improvements for citizens in the coming months.
