Confectionery brands update strategies for seasonal turrón demand

In Peru, the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) has recorded 130 brands associated with turrón. This surge in registration coincides with high demand during October, the month of the Lord of Miracles processions. While generic terms like “turrón” or “turrón de Doña Pepa” are not subject to exclusive protection, the registry covers specific combinations of names, logos, and distinctive elements. Notable registered brands include La Ibérica and Club Nacional Turrón de Doña Pepa CN 1855.

In Spain, Chocolates Trapa has announced a visual rebranding of its chocolate and turrón ranges ahead of the Christmas season. The company is updating the packaging for its Cortados, Bombonísimos, and turrón lines to improve visibility and appeal to new audiences while celebrating its 135th anniversary. CEO Gerardo Fernández Calvo stated that the redesign focuses on contemporary aesthetics using corporate orange, gold, and black, without altering product formats or weights. Turrón represents approximately 6% of the company's sales.
