Conference tourism expands in Italy, feasibility studies push new exhibition centers in India

Italy’s meetings industry reported a 6.4% annual rise in conference tourism, with companies accounting for 61.4% of events and associations growing to 24.4%. National events fell to 32.3% of the total while local events rose to 54.8%, and international events held steady at about 13%. More than half of venues are in the North, and hotels with meeting rooms host 76.6% of events. Average per‑capita spend reached €312.3, up 3.7% from the previous year.

In India, the rapidly expanding MICE sector is prompting feasibility studies for modern convention and exhibition centres. Rising corporate conferences, international trade fairs, government events and startup summits are driving demand. The studies assess market demand, competition, revenue potential and investment risks, emphasizing the need for substantial capital, strategic location and advanced digital infrastructure to attract future events.
