Congress criticised by DMK and CPM over alliance moves and secular unity
Udhayanidhi Stalin, leader of the DMK youth wing, accused the Indian National Congress of being the real reason behind the BJP’s electoral successes and said the party should “never be trusted”. His comments followed Congress’s decision to end its alliance with the DMK after the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly election and to extend conditional support to actor‑turned‑politician Vijay’s TVK.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) also condemned Congress, with general secretary M.A. Baby stating that the party’s approach “does not help strengthen unity among secular forces against the RSS‑BJP”. Baby accused Congress of making baseless allegations against the Left and warned that the BJP’s growing influence in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Assam threatens secular, progressive forces.
