Congress leaders predict NSUI victory in DUSU elections
Leaders of the Indian National Congress have expressed strong confidence in the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) ahead of the upcoming Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, scheduled for September 18. Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav and MP Deepender Hooda stated that the NSUI panel is prepared to win by addressing student concerns and opposing the policies of the BJP-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal linked the anticipated DUSU success to a recent NSUI victory in the Garhwal University elections, which he characterized as a “comprehensive defeat” for the BJP. Venugopal suggested that student voting patterns reflect dissatisfaction with current government policies.
The DUSU election features candidates from multiple groups, including the ABVP, the Aam Aadmi Party’s student wing (ASAP), and the NSUI. Vote counting is expected to take place on September 19.
