CONI Marche discusses Olympic sports visibility at Overtime Festival
The CONI Marche Regional School of Sport, in collaboration with the 16th edition of the Overtime Festival, organized a conference in Macerata titled “Between one Olympiad and another… Visibility and refractivity of Olympic sports.”
During the event, held at the Galleria degli Antichi Forni, media professionals and journalists discussed the evolution of sports storytelling and the challenges of maintaining public interest in Olympic disciplines outside of the actual Games. Experts highlighted a significant issue: media attention tends to peak during the two weeks of the Olympic event but drops drastically immediately following the closing ceremony.
Fabio Luna, President of CONI Marche, emphasized the need to sensitize both the public and journalists to the importance of maintaining a constant flow of news regarding Olympic disciplines throughout the entire four-year cycle. This continuity is seen as essential for promoting athletes and sustaining interest in less-followed disciplines.
