Conmebol and FCF donate $1 million to Colombia earthquake relief

Conmebol and the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) have announced a joint donation of one million dollars to support reconstruction efforts following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia. The funds will be distributed through the ‘Colombia, un solo corazón’ campaign, led by First Lady Ana Lucía Pineda.

The earthquake, which struck on Monday, has resulted in at least 265 deaths, 3,494 injuries, and 496 missing persons. According to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), the disaster has affected 403 municipalities across 14 departments, causing the destruction of over 11,000 homes and the collapse of 140 buildings.

In response to the crisis, Dimayor has postponed all professional football activities, including Primera A, Primera B, and the Copa Colombia, until August 19. Both Conmebol and the FCF have called upon the international sporting community and fans to continue supporting fundraising and supply initiatives for the affected regions.
