Connecticut Children’s Medical Center reaches DOJ agreement

The Department of Justice has reached a resolution with Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, resulting in an agreement to stop administering sex change drugs to minors. The settlement follows a federal investigation into potential violations of law regarding medical treatments and surgeries for minors.

As part of the agreement, the medical center will pay a monetary penalty and commit $500,000 toward medical care for individuals who were harmed by such treatments. While the center has denied all allegations, the DOJ noted that the institution was “cooperative, proactive, and solution-driven” during the investigation.

Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward stated that the resolution serves as a reminder that the Department of Justice will “vigorously enforce federal law, especially where the lives of children are endangered.” This agreement follows similar resolutions involving the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Texas Children’s Hospital.
