Connecticut early voting continues as local projects and tourism boost draw attention
Early voting for Connecticut's August 11 primary is underway across the state, with sites such as Hartford City Hall and the second‑floor meeting room of Colebrook Town Hall open through Sunday, Aug. 9. Town of Colebrook also announced tax‑stabilization payments of about $689,000 from Wind Colebrook South, upcoming capital‑improvement projects for schools, fire department and public works, and plans for the 81st Labor Day Fair.
U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy is urging the Democratic Party to adopt an "economic populism" agenda focused on data centers, Social Security, housing and youth sports, while Governor Ned Lamont has pledged state funds to repair vandalism at the historic Nathan Hale Homestead in Coventry after a break‑in that damaged barns and stole cash.
Connecticut’s tourism report shows 72 million visitors in 2025, generating $12.3 billion in direct spending and supporting more than 125,000 jobs, a 3.1% increase over the previous year.
