Conservative Party launches campaign to keep Alberta in Canada

The federal Conservative Party has launched the ‘Conservatives for Canada’ campaign to advocate for Alberta remaining part of the country. The initiative comes ahead of an upcoming provincial referendum on October 19, which will include a question regarding whether Alberta should remain a province or begin the legal process to leave Canada.

Conservative MP Dane Lloyd, serving as the caucus lead for the campaign, stated that the movement aims to engage Albertans with a message of hope and respect. Lloyd noted that while many Albertans feel their values and contributions have been ignored by the federal government, they still view themselves as patriotic Canadians.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has previously argued that the desire for separation stems from dissatisfaction with federal government policies rather than a rejection of Canada itself. MP Stephanie Kusie also emphasized that while the province deserves more respect from Ottawa, the federal Conservatives choose to remain within the Confederation.
