Romanian firefighters return from Serbia wildfire mission

A group of 69 Romanian firefighters has completed a two-week mission in Serbia, where they assisted local authorities in combating extensive vegetation fires. The deployment, conducted through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, included a ground module of 15 technical vehicles and the deployment of a Black Hawk S-70M rescEU helicopter to support aerial firefighting in hard-to-reach areas.

Simultaneously, Romania is facing its own challenges with wildfires. In Bihor County, a large fire has affected approximately 25 hectares of forest near Mizieș. Firefighters are currently working to contain the blaze, though strong and shifting winds are complicating efforts to prevent the fire from reaching residential areas.
