Wildfires in Serbia and Bosnia stabilize; Romanian fires

Overview

By early September, the Romanian firefighting mission concluded. A team of 69 Romanian personnel and 15 technical vehicles, deployed via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, returned home after a two-week mission. The Romanian intervention also included a Black Hawk S-70M rescEU helicopter, which conducted seven water drops using the Bambi Bucket system to assist in hard-to-reach areas.

While the Romanian team completed its mission in Serbia, domestic wildfire challenges emerged in Romania. In Bihor County, a large fire has affected approximately 25 hectares of forest near Mizieș. Firefighters are currently working to contain the blaze, though strong and shifting winds are complicating efforts to prevent the fire from reaching residential areas.

Claims

What the coverage asserts, and how many sources carry each claim.

Coverage disagrees

Sources make claims that cannot both be true. CLSTR reports the disagreement; it does not decide who is right.

  • "Croatia deployed Canadair CL‑415 water‑bombing aircraft to France, completing 1,198 flight sorties and dropping about 1,110 tonnes of water."

    vs

"They dropped 1 224 tonnes of water."

The claims provide different totals for the amount of water dropped by the Croatian aircraft (1,110 tonnes vs 1,224 tonnes).
