Constanța's SEAS festival turns city into open‑air stage for international performances

The fifth edition of the Stagiunea Estivală a Artelor Spectacolului (SEAS) transformed Constanța, Romania, into a sprawling open‑air venue from July 24‑26, 2026. The program featured SEAStreet, a three‑day showcase of international street theatre, aerial shows and itinerant performances across four city locations, including the Tomis Tourist Port parking lot.

Highlights included the French company Deus Ex Machina’s “Le Grand Mire” aerial show, which combined video‑mapping, acrobatics on veils, trapeze acts and pendular dance under a giant illuminated sphere. The festival also presented puppet theatre by Teatrul de Animație Țăndărică, percussion groups Batalà Barcelona and Kalimba Batucada, and a procession of illuminated foxes. Further events are scheduled for August 14‑16 as SEAStreet continues.

SEAS, billed as Europe’s largest summer season for performing arts, brings together Romanian and foreign artists, expanding the city’s cultural offerings and attracting visitors from across the region.
