Constantin Brâncuși: International projects celebrate sculptor's 150th anniversary

Various cultural initiatives are underway to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of renowned sculptor Constantin Brâncuși.

In Thessaloniki, Greece, an international itinerant photo-documentary exhibition titled ‘Brâncuși – Calea spre lumină’ (Brâncuși – The Way to Light) is scheduled for September 4. Organized by the Gorj County Center for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture in collaboration with the Consulate General of Romania and the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the exhibition explores Brâncuși’s artistic journey and his connection to the Gorj region. It highlights his monumental works in Târgu Jiu, including the Table of Silence, the Kiss Gate, and the Endless Column.

Additionally, the ‘Brâncuși 150’ project was showcased at the Bucharest International Air Show 2026. This initiative, led by the Inter-Art Aiud Foundation in partnership with the National Museum of Constantin Brâncuși and under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, featured a documentary film detailing simultaneous exhibitions held across 21 countries on six continents. The project involved 29 Romanian artists presenting contemporary works inspired by Brâncuși to bridge his legacy with modern artistic creation.
