Construction of 12km Dabar hydroelectric tunnel nears completion in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The final concreting phase of the 12,125-meter supply tunnel for the Dabar hydroelectric power plant has been completed. This project represents the longest hydrotechnical tunnel in the Balkans and the second longest in Southeast Europe.

Constructed by the local company Integral Inženjering, the tunnel is a critical component of the Dabar hydroelectric system, a major energy project in Bosnia and Herzegovina valued at approximately 664 million KM. Work on the project began in 2017, involving complex geological conditions and an average of 200 workers operating in three shifts.

To date, approximately 500,000 cubic meters of material have been excavated and 150,000 cubic meters of concrete have been installed. The project is part of a larger energy infrastructure investment overseen by the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska.
