Consumer protection initiatives expand across Brazil
Consumer protection agencies in Brazil are launching several initiatives to provide education and direct assistance to citizens.
In Carapicuíba, the local government has opened registrations for a series of online and in-person lectures held in partnership with Procon-SP. The September program covers topics such as consumer rights, personal finance, environmental consumption, and the risks associated with gambling and betting.
In São Pedro da Aldeia, Procon is partnering with the Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat for Consumer Defense (SEDCON-RJ) to host a debt negotiation event on September 22 and 23. Eight companies, including Itaú, Claro, TIM, Vivo, Pefisa, Casas Bahia, Prolagos, and Enel, will participate to help consumers resolve outstanding debts.
Additionally, in Macaé, Procon is implementing a decentralization strategy by bringing services directly to the Sana district. On September 18, a mobile team will provide guidance and support regarding contracts, billing, and supplier conflicts to residents who face difficulties traveling to the municipal center.
