Consumer protection agencies in Brazil are implementing various regional initiatives to assist citizens with legal rights and debt management.

In Rio de Janeiro, Procon Carioca organized a debt renegotiation event involving 14 companies, including major banks and utility providers. In Macaé, Procon expanded its services to the Sana district through mobile assistance to decentralize consumer defense. In São Pedro da Aldeia, Procon is partnering with the Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat for Consumer Defense (SEDCON-RJ) to host a debt negotiation event on September 22 and 23, featuring eight companies such as Itaú, Claro, TIM, Vivo, Pefisa, Casas Bahia, Prolagos, and Enel.

Educational programs continue to expand. In João Pessoa, the ‘Procon-JP vai às aulas’ 2026 program provided ninth-grade students from five municipal schools with practical training on fuel quality and quantity testing. This partnership between Procon-JP and the Municipal Secretariat of Education and Culture allows students to observe inspectors performing flow tests to identify irregularities. Students who complete the course receive a certificate and a R$ 700.00 scholarship.

In Carapicuíba, the local government, in partnership with Procon-SP, has opened registrations for online and in-person lectures. The September program covers consumer rights, personal finance, environmental consumption, and the risks associated with gambling and betting.
