Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said that holding meetings without Matteo Renzi was not a new occurrence, and used the moment to discuss the concept of discrimination, arguing that distinguishing between people is a natural and neutral act unless it becomes unjust.

Angelo Bonelli, co‑spokesperson of the Greens–Left alliance, sharply criticized Renzi’s approach to a possible coalition, stating that Renzi’s aim to mobilise voters who dislike Bonelli makes any partnership untenable. Bonelli called for a pause in talks, insisting on a coherent programme and warning against alliances built on hostility. He also referenced the need for broader consultation and highlighted the positions of other centre‑left figures such as Elly Schlein.
