Contract Marriage reality show premieres with simulated marriage format
The new dating reality program ‘Contract Marriage’, produced by Nam Kyu-hong—known for hits like ‘I Am Solo’—premiered on KBS Joy and MBC Every1. The show features participants who attempt to simulate a marriage by adhering to specific contractual clauses, such as living in one partner's home and managing shared expenses under strict rules.
The first episode featured Sang-cheol, a Boeing supply chain analyst, and Young-sook, a nurse, both of whom are divorcees. Despite the show being exclusive to Netflix for streaming, which limits real-time online viewing in Korea, the premiere achieved a combined average viewership rating of 1.3%, with a peak of 1.6%.
During the broadcast, former footballer Ahn Jung-hwan offered advice to a participant named Jeong-hwan regarding maintaining respect and etiquette within a marriage. The program aims to explore the realities of partnership through a structured, simulated environment.
