Converge ICT urges Philippine MSMEs to adopt digital technology
Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has concluded the first season of its BizKarteng Pinoy Podcast, emphasizing the urgent need for Philippine micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt digital technology to remain competitive. MSMEs represent approximately 99 percent of all businesses in the Philippines, providing 60 to 63 percent of total employment and contributing roughly 36 percent to the national Gross Domestic Product.
Dindo Marzan, senior vice president and head of the SME Business Group at Converge, highlighted that technology and digitalization remain significant barriers to productivity and growth. He argued that internet connectivity should be viewed as a critical business investment rather than a household utility, noting that dedicated, enterprise-grade connections are essential for cloud-based tools, digital transactions, and customer service.
The podcast season featured various entrepreneurs, including Dawn Chang of DC Delights, and industry figures Char Tinio and Ned Adriano, who discussed topics such as scaling passion projects, managing financial pressures, and recovering from business failures.
