Cook’s Seafood closes after 98 years of operation

Cook’s Seafood, a long-standing fish market and restaurant, has abruptly closed all of its locations, including its sites in Menlo Park and Pleasanton. The closure occurred on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, after 98 years in business.

Founded in 1928 by Bill Cook in Menlo Park, the business underwent several ownership changes over the decades. It was owned by Robert Rahe in the 1940s before being sold in 1963 to Roy Crumrine, an employee who had been with the company since 1955. The business is currently managed by Roy Crumrine Jr.

Longtime counter clerk Dan Dowler, who had worked at the establishment for 55 years, was notified of the closure via text message in the early hours of October 29. The Crumrine family issued a statement thanking staff for their years of service.
