Cook’s Seafood business closure

Overview

Cook’s Seafood, a Bay Area fish market and restaurant institution operating for 98 years, has abruptly closed all locations, including its sites in Menlo Park and Pleasanton.

The closure was communicated to staff via text messages from owner Roy Crumrine Jr., informing employees of their termination and the immediate shutdown of the buildings. A sign posted at the original Menlo Park location cited a “difficult year for restaurants” as the reason for the closure.

Founded in 1928 by Bill Cook, the business underwent several ownership changes over nearly a century. The Crumrine family, which had been involved with the company since 1955, issued a statement thanking staff for their years of service.
