Argentina's art scene launches contests, exhibitions and events in 2026

Cooperativa Obrera and Bahía Blanca Plaza Shopping opened the call for the XIV Salón Anual de Pintura, Dibujo, Escultura y Grabado. Submissions are accepted from 1 to 31 August 2026, with a jury of Florencia Cabeza, Yaya Firpo and Omar Sirena. The first prize is AR$3 million, the second AR$1.5 million, and the selected works will be exhibited from 19 October to 15 November 2026 in the SUM of Bahía Blanca Plaza Shopping.

The cultural platform Argentores, together with Ciudad Cultural Konex, hosted a round‑table titled “La imaginación como bien público” on 25 August 2026 in Buenos Aires. Panelists included Alejandro Dolina, Mauricio Kartun, Teresa Parodi and Sergio Vainman.

Santa Teresita’s Espacio Expositivo Carabela inaugurated the “Pintura Híbrida” show by artist Carlos Cardozo on 8 August 2026. The free exhibition runs through 20 September and is supported by the municipality of La Costa.

The Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Chile opened applications for the 2026 “Estudios Libres” program, a free series of four workshops and eight applied sessions running from July to December for residents of the Metropolitan Region.
