Cooperativa Pascual seeks tax relief regarding IEPS impact

Cooperativa Pascual, the producer of Boing, has requested a differentiated tax treatment for cooperatives during the discussion of Mexico’s 2027 Economic Package. The organization argues that the current Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) applied to flavored beverages creates a significant financial challenge for its business model compared to large beverage conglomerates.

According to the cooperative, it has been absorbing a large portion of the IEPS impact through its own profit margins to avoid passing the costs directly to Mexican families. However, the organization warned that this strategy places continuous pressure on its finances. As part of its adaptation strategy, the cooperative has launched ‘Néctasis’, a beverage made with natural fruit and no added sugar, and developed new presentations for school cooperatives.
