COP31 Bike Ride departs Prague for UN climate conference in Antalya
The international COP31 Bike Ride, the largest cycling relay promoting climate protection, left Prague after a three‑day stop to continue toward the United Nations climate conference COP31 in Antalya, Turkey. The relay began in Belém, Brazil and will travel through more than 20 countries on three continents, covering at least 22,000 kilometres.
Cyclists are carrying ten proposals that urge governments to increase support for cycling infrastructure as a low‑emission transport option. In Prague they were welcomed by Deputy Mayor for Environment and Climate Plan Jana Komrsková, who presented a letter of support and highlighted the city’s recent expansion of bike lanes. The stop was organized by the AutoMat association in cooperation with the Dutch embassy and the UN office in the Czech Republic. Participants also seek statements from city officials along the route to bring to the Antalya conference, scheduled for 9‑20 November.
