COP31 Bike Ride promotes sustainable mobility via international cycling relay

The COP31 Bike Ride is an international cycling relay designed to advocate for sustainable mobility and the integration of cycling into global climate policies. Using the slogan ‘Ride Slower, Change Faster’, the initiative aims to pressure governments to include measurable and verifiable cycling transport commitments within their national climate pledges.

Following previous editions that connected Paris to Baku for COP29 and Azerbaijan to Brazil for COP30, the 2026 edition intends to connect Brazil to Turkey, the host of COP31. The project aims to involve 10,000 cyclists. The relay uses a symbolic banner, similar to an Olympic flame, which carries ten political proposals for active mobility from one participant to the next.

In Italy, the event includes stops such as Pesaro, where local administrations, associations, and citizens participate in awareness activities, including public events and educational meetings. The initiative seeks to elevate the role of the bicycle in reducing emissions and building more sustainable cities during UN Climate Change Conferences.
