COP31 Climate Summit in Antalya projected to generate $2 billion

The 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31) will be held in Antalya, Turkey, from 9‑20 November 2026 at the former EXPO 2016 site. Organisers have divided the venue into a "Blue Zone" for leaders' conference activities and a "Green Zone" for civil‑society participation, and are constructing permanent and temporary facilities covering roughly 163,000 m² in the Blue Zone and 90,000 m² in the Green Zone.

Istanbul Climate, Urban Planning and Environment Minister Işmail Öntaş said daily attendance is expected to reach 100,000 visitors, including around 120 heads of state and more than 400 ministers. He added that the eleven‑day summit is forecast to generate about $2 billion in revenue for the city, benefiting hotels, transport and dining services. Hotel reservations for delegations have already begun, with the specific hotels for heads of state being kept confidential.
