Mining sector activity expands across Chile and Mexico

Several significant developments are occurring within the Latin American mining sector. In Chile, Capstone Copper has completed the US$25 million acquisition of the San Pietro project in the Atacama Region. This transaction includes 16,000 hectares of copper, gold, iron, and cobalt concessions, consolidating the company's presence in the Mantoverde-Santo Domingo district.

In Mexico, Mammoth Resources Corp. has launched a drilling campaign at the Tenoriba Project in Chihuahua. The company plans to drill 60 wells to advance metallurgical testing for gold and silver, maintaining 100% ownership of the asset.

Other regional updates include Collahuasi launching a 3 billion peso recovery plan in Tarapacá to repair infrastructure and health centers damaged by recent rains. Additionally, Kobrea Exploration is planning its 2026/2027 season in Mendoza following a strategic agreement with BHP, which includes an initial US$3 million investment.
