Copper thefts reported in Moscazzano and Corbetta

A series of copper thefts and acts of vandalism have been reported in the Lombardy region of Italy.

In Moscazzano, Carabinieri officers thwarted an attempted theft at a local cemetery during the early hours of Sunday, September 27. Residents alerted authorities after hearing unusual noises. Upon arrival, police observed a suspect fleeing into the vegetation. Officers recovered approximately 50 meters of copper downpipes that had been detached and staged for removal. The material was returned to the Mayor of Moscazzano.

In Corbetta, an Enel X electric vehicle charging station was vandalized after thieves cut and stole the copper power cables. The damage was discovered by a local pedestrian and reported to the consumer association Vaielettrico. The theft has left the station out of service. Vaielettrico noted that such recurring incidents without convictions may impact the future density and placement of public charging infrastructure by major operators.
