Coquimbo Health Service expands emergency care in Chile

The Coquimbo Health Service is expanding emergency medical services in the Coquimbo Region of Chile, specifically targeting the Elqui, Limarí, and Choapa provinces. A significant development includes the establishment of a Primary Care Emergency Service (SAPU) at the CESFAM Urbano in Illapel.

This new service in Illapel will operate Monday through Friday from 17:00 to 00:00, and on weekends and holidays from 08:00 to 00:00. The initiative aims to alleviate pressure on the local hospital by managing non-life-threatening emergencies at the primary care level.

The expansion is supported by an investment of over 250 million pesos, intended to strengthen emergency services across various points in the region and facilitate the opening of new medical facilities, with a particular focus on rural populations.
