Corato and Molfetta launch first summer edition of Carnival 2026

For the first time the traditional Italian Carnival will be staged in the summer. The "Carnevale – Summer Edition 2026" is a joint initiative of the Fondazione Carnevale Molfetta and Pro Loco Quadratum – Carnevale Coratino, aiming to highlight the cultural heritage of the two neighbouring towns.

The program begins on Friday, 17 July, in Corato's Piazza Cesare Battisti with the show "Giocondo", a theatrical tribute to Italian playful poetry, followed by performances by masked groups and a DJ set. On Saturday, 18 July the events move to Molfetta's Villa Comunale for the "Festa dei Colori", featuring dance ensembles, the city’s signature mask Melficto, and another DJ finale. A workshop titled "Orecchiette colorate e chiacchiere di Carnevale" runs 17‑19 July, offering children hands‑on activities that combine local cuisine and carnival crafts. Organisers hope the summer edition will strengthen ties between the communities and boost cultural tourism.
