Corey Day to debut in NASCAR Cup Series with Spire Motorsports in 2027

Corey Day will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2027 driving for Spire Motorsports. Hendrick Motorsports President Jeff Andrews confirmed that Day, who recently signed a long-term extension with Hendrick, will compete in a limited schedule of approximately five to six races to gain experience.

Because Hendrick Motorsports is at its four-car limit under the 2025 Charter Agreement, the team cannot field an additional entry. Instead, Day will utilize Hendrick’s technical relationship with Spire Motorsports to participate in select races. The schedule is expected to feature a variety of tracks, including mile-and-a-half and short tracks, likely during the summer and fall of 2027.

Day will continue to compete full-time in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2027, driving the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet. Hendrick officials noted that multi-time champions Kyle Larson and Jeff Gordon will provide significant input in planning Day’s Cup Series schedule.
