Corey Day Hendrick Motorsports contract extension
Overview
Racing prospect Corey Day has signed a long-term contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports. Under the agreement, the 20-year-old driver will return for a second consecutive full-time season in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2027, driving the No. 17 Chevrolet Camaro.
Following the initial announcement of a limited NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2027, further details have emerged regarding his entry. Due to Hendrick Motorsports reaching its four-car limit under the 2025 Charter Agreement, Day will utilize Hendrick’s technical relationship with Spire Motorsports to compete in approximately five to six races. This limited schedule is expected to include various tracks during the summer and fall of 2027. Hendrick officials indicated that multi-time champions Kyle Larson and Jeff Gordon will assist in planning Day’s Cup Series schedule.
