Police in Corinthia have dismantled a large-scale organized cannabis plantation located in a remote forest area within the municipality of Sikyon. The operation, conducted in the early hours of September 2, 2026, involved specialized units including the Corinthia Crime Prevention and Suppression Team (OPKE) and the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (EKAM).

Authorities discovered 2,189 cannabis plants, some reaching heights of up to 2.10 meters. The site was highly organized, featuring irrigation systems, greenhouses, makeshift drying facilities, and living quarters including a kitchen and tents to allow cultivators to remain on-site for extended periods.

One 27-year-old foreign national was arrested at the scene while tending to the plants. He faces charges related to criminal organization, drug law violations, and immigration law breaches. Police also seized 12.876 kilograms of cannabis, along with various agricultural tools, a vehicle, and a mobile phone. The estimated economic profit from this illegal operation was valued at approximately 3.3 million euros.
