Corinthians suffers cyberattack and false Messi transfer announcement

The official website of the Brazilian football club Corinthians was targeted by a cyberattack during the early hours of Saturday. Hackers breached the platform to publish a fraudulent announcement claiming the club had signed Argentine star Lionel Messi for the 2027 season.

The fake communiqué included fabricated financial details and fictitious statements attributed to Messi expressing his excitement about joining the Brazilian team. Following the breach, the club temporarily took its official website and the Neo Química Arena digital platforms offline to perform security verifications.

Corinthians confirmed that its IT team successfully neutralized the intrusion and stated that no financial losses or theft of institutional data occurred. The incident took place shortly after the team secured a 2-0 victory against Mirassol in the Campeonato Brasileiro, a win that moved the club to 17th place in the standings.
