Cyberattacks on Brazilian football club websites

Overview

In late October 2026, major Brazilian football clubs were targeted by cyberattacks. On October 26, the official website of Palmeiras was compromised, causing instability and temporary unavailability. During the intrusion, hackers replaced institutional content with provocative messages mocking the club and criticizing its digital security. The club reported that its ticket sales platform remained unaffected.

On October 31, the official website of Corinthians was also targeted. The breach involved the publication of a fraudulent announcement claiming the club had signed Lionel Messi. The hoax included fabricated details regarding a 12-month contract starting in 2027, fake quotes from the club presidency, and a purported statement from Messi. The fraudulent note also included fabricated financial strategies involving sponsor consortiums and investment funds.

Following the incident, the Corinthians website and the Neo Química Arena website were taken offline and placed under maintenance to reinforce digital security protocols. The club later issued a statement confirming the cyberattack but asserting that the situation was neutralized by their IT team. Corinthians stated that there were no financial losses or compromises to sensitive data. The breach occurred shortly after the team secured a 2-0 victory against Mirassol in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
