Cork authorities seize €1 million in cocaine and heroin

Authorities in Cork have conducted two significant drug seizures. On Monday, August 31, 2026, Customs officers and the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit intercepted a man in his 30s at Cork Airport. During a stop and search, officers seized packages of cocaine with an estimated street value of €1 million. The man was arrested and charged, with a scheduled appearance in Cork District Court.

In a separate operation conducted on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, under Operation Tara, Gardaí seized approximately 1.5 kilograms of suspected heroin in Cork City, valued at roughly €210,000. The operation led to the arrest of a woman in her 40s and a man in his 60s following a vehicle search. During a subsequent warrant-based search of a premises, officers recovered approximately €14,950 in cash and drug paraphernalia. Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
