International drug seizure operations
Overview
Authorities in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and Ireland have reported several large-scale drug seizures involving cocaine, heroin, and cannabis.
In the United Kingdom, Border Force officers intercepted cocaine shipments at Southampton Port valued at multiple millions of pounds, including individual seizures of £38 million, £47 million, and £76 million. Additionally, 290 kilograms of cannabis were found in a hardwood flooring shipment. In Hong Kong, a month-long operation named ‘Fire Mesh’ resulted in the arrest of 10 individuals and the seizure of cannabis buds worth approximately HK$56 million.
In Ireland, customs and police in Cork conducted two separate operations. At Cork Airport, officers seized cocaine with an estimated street value of €1 million. Under ‘Operation Tara’, Gardaí also recovered approximately 1.5 kilograms of suspected heroin valued at €210,000, along with cash and drug paraphernalia.
