Correggio library joins ‘i Rifugi’ network to support women

The municipal library in Correggio, known as ‘La Biblio’, has officially joined the ‘i Rifugi’ network, transforming the cultural space into a point of protection, listening, and orientation for women facing gender violence or vulnerability.

Following specialized training provided by the publisher Settenove, the association Percorso Donna APS, and the Italian Library Association (AIB), library staff have acquired the skills to welcome individuals with discretion and sensitivity. While the library does not replace specialized anti-violence centers or healthcare services, it serves as an accessible, informal entry point to help by providing clear information and acting as a bridge to local specialist services.

The ‘i Rifugi’ initiative, launched in 2023 by Settenove and Percorso Donna APS with support from the Giulia Cecchettin Foundation, aims to create a widespread circuit of libraries, bookstores, and public cultural spaces across Italy to act as community antennas for social support.
