Expansion of ‘i Rifugi’ network in Italy
Overview
The ‘i Rifugi’ network, an initiative launched in 2023 by the publisher Settenove and Percorso Donna APS with support from the Giulia Cecchettin Foundation, is expanding its presence in Italian public cultural spaces to combat gender-based violence.
In August 2026, the municipal library in Correggio, ‘La Biblio’, joined the network. Following specialized training, staff members became equipped to provide discretion, listening, and orientation for women facing vulnerability, acting as a bridge to local specialist services.
By September 2026, the Alberto La Volpe Municipal Library in Bastia Umbra also joined the initiative, marking the first library in the Umbria region to do so. This expansion was facilitated through the Bastia Umbra Equal Opportunities Table to strengthen local prevention and information tools.
