Correos spent over 5.7 million euros on legal fees and fines

Data obtained via the Transparency Portal by the CGT union reveals that the Spanish postal service, Correos, has spent over 5.7 million euros on legal expenses and fines between 2022 and 2025.

Of this total, approximately 4.2 million euros were paid to the Abogacía General del Estado for legal assistance and representation, averaging more than one million euros annually. Additionally, the company spent over 530,000 euros on external specialized legal counsel.

Regarding regulatory penalties, Correos paid a total of 837,165 euros in fines resulting from Labor Inspection sanctions and non-compliance with health and safety regulations. The union criticized these expenditures, alleging that the funds are being used to defend against labor conflicts rather than improving working conditions or investing in staff and equipment.

Financially, Correos reported a provisional profit of 14.4 million euros for 2025, a significant recovery from a 94 million euro loss recorded in 2024.
