Corrientes-Chaco bridge implements new toll system

A new toll collection system has been implemented for the interprovincial bridge connecting Corrientes and Chaco in Argentina. This change follows the awarding of the Litoral section of the Federal Concession Network for the next two decades, covering 546.74 kilometers of national routes 12 and 16.

The new scheme introduces a base toll rate of 2,876.04 pesos plus VAT. To encourage technological adoption and reduce traffic delays, drivers using the Telepase electronic system will receive a 50 percent discount. Manual payments are expected to be more expensive and slower.

While the current administration is focusing on improving the existing bridge's functionality, discussions regarding the construction of a second bridge between the two provinces remain a point of contention. Previous proposals included a US$ 700 million loan from the Inter-American Development Bank, though progress on a second crossing has not been confirmed.
