Corrientes livestock producers use SaepGa technology to manage El Niño risks
In Corrientes, Argentina, the SaepGa (Spatial Analysis System for Livestock Parcels) digital platform is being utilized to help producers prepare for increased rainfall associated with the El Niño phenomenon. Developed through a partnership between the Inta Corrientes Experimental Station and the provincial government, the free-access tool integrates spatial information with environmental and productive variables.
The platform allows producers to enter cadastral data to estimate land carrying capacity and analyze useful surface area under different climatic scenarios. A key feature is the Livestock Load Calculator, which enables users to input various livestock categories—including bovine, equine, and ovine—to calculate head volume, cow equivalents, and net surface area after accounting for unproductive sectors.
