Corrientes investigation: Five detained in disappearance of teacher Nancy Godoy

Authorities in Corrientes, Argentina, are investigating the disappearance of 52-year-old rural teacher Nancy Estela Godoy, who was last seen on October 6 while heading to Escuela Rural N.º 626 in the Esquina department. Prosecutors Javier Mosquera and María Andrea González have shifted the investigation toward a femicide hypothesis.

Five individuals are currently in custody. Ireneo Zarza, a foreman at Estancia El Curupí, as well as Nahuel Rojas and a man identified as Sandoval, have been charged as co-authors of femicide. Rosa Leguizamón, a neighbor of the teacher, was charged with simple homicide, while Ezequiel Bordón was charged with false testimony. The prosecution is seeking indefinite preventive detention for all suspects.

Evidence seized during searches includes a black jacket and footwear found at Leguizamón’s property in Sauce, which may belong to Godoy. Investigators are also analyzing a letter written by the teacher in August describing the school's poor conditions. While searches involving drones, horses, and dogs continue in the rural areas of El Malezal, Godoy's body has not yet been found.
