Corrientes investigation: search continues for missing teacher Nancy Godoy
Authorities in Corrientes, Argentina, are conducting an intensive search operation for Nancy Estela Godoy, a 52-year-old teacher and substitute director of Rural School No. 626 in El Malezal. Godoy has been missing since October 6, with her last known contact being a WhatsApp message to her son on October 7.
An extensive search operation involving approximately 90 police officers, drones, specialized dogs, and horses is currently scouring difficult-to-access rural terrain, including marshes and dense brush. Investigators are also reviewing security camera footage from the city of Esquina to reconstruct her final movements.
A significant development in the case involves the detention of a rural worker, Ezequiel Bordón, on suspicion of obstructing the investigation. During a search of his residence, police seized four knives and clothing—including a shirt and field undergarments—bearing reddish stains. These items have been sent to the Forensic Medical Institute to determine if the stains are human blood through DNA testing.
The victim's family believes she may have been deceived into leaving the school, noting that her personal belongings, such as her bag and cell phone, were left behind at the school, though some clothing and her mate kit were found inside. The school appeared to have been prepared for her absence, with no immediate signs of violence reported at the site.
