Corrientes to hold provincial elections separately from national polls

Governor Juan Pablo Valdés has confirmed that Corrientes will hold its provincial elections separately from the national elections. While the decision to decouple the electoral calendars is finalized, the specific date for the vote has not yet been officially announced.

In the 2027 elections, Corrientes voters will participate in a partial renewal of the bicameral Legislature, electing 15 deputies and 5 senators. The province utilizes a direct voting system without primary elections (PASO) and employs the traditional 'boleta sábana' method.

Corrientes joins several other Argentine provinces that have opted to decouple their local electoral schedules from the national calendar, including Tucumán, Salta, Misiones, Chubut, Neuquén, Santa Fe, Chaco, Tierra del Fuego, and Mendoza.
