Romania advances major sports and infrastructure projects
Romania is seeing several developments in sports infrastructure and regional projects. In Hunedoara, the construction permit for the new Corvinul Stadium has been issued following the contract for the demolition of the old arena, which has stood for 66 years. The new project, valued at 54 million euros, is funded by the National Investment Company with a 25 percent contribution from the Hunedoara City Hall.
In Constanța, work is set to begin on the new Gheorghe Hagi Stadium. The project, estimated at 500 million lei, will feature a 18,190-seat capacity and meet UEFA Category IV standards. It includes training facilities, a conference center, and commercial spaces.
Timișoara is inaugurating the Costică Rădulescu sports base, which features a football pitch and a multi-functional court for handball and basketball. Additionally, construction continues on a new pedestrian bridge at the East Station in Timișoara to improve accessibility.
Other regional updates include roadwork on Republicii Boulevard in Pitești and the Azuga-Bușteni bypass project, which has reached 16 percent completion with an expected finish in early 2028. In Râmnicu Sărat, the national oină championship final is scheduled for early October.
